EPIC SPOTLIGHT: BERINN RAE

1

Bio…

Berinn Rae writes fantasy romance and urban fantasy. Berinn lives in the Midwest with her husband and an incredibly spoiled sixty-pound lap dog. She flies a decent airport pattern and throws a very bad game of darts.

What genres do you think are up and coming or waning?

I think dystopian/apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic stories are hot and only getting hotter.

How long did it take you to publish your first book, once you started looking for an agent or publisher?

I was lucky. I found a home for Knightfall in a little under three months with a small house called Crescent Moon Press. After signing the contract, it took about seven months before the book was released to Kindle and paperback and other e-formats in the following months.

How long does it take you to write a book?

A solid three months. Here’s my personal process: I hammer out the rough draft in month 1, rewrites in month 2, and polish in month 3. With a full-time day job, this timeline sometimes has to get stretched out.

Do you write one book/story at a time or multiples?

I write one book at a time, although I’m always jotting notes for other stories in my faithful Moleskine journal.

What genres do you write?

Paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I loved comic books and sci-fi/fantasy as a kid and have never outgrown the obsession.

Introvert or extrovert?

Introvert all the way, but I can fake extrovert in a pinch.

What advice would you give a new writer?

My advice is to not take advice! Well, listen, but don’t assume that because it works for someone else that it’ll work for you. Writing practices and habits don’t work the same way for everyone. Try out things and discover what works for you.

The #1 holiday or birthday gift to purchase for an author is...

The author’s book! Having one more reader gift enough.

Your favorite leisure activity or vacation spot?

When I’m not writing, I’m either reading or flying old airplanes, depending on the weather.

Knightfall - fantasy romance, May 2011 release by Crescent Moon Press.

Tell us about releases you expect within the next year...

I have just turned in the sequel to Knightfall to my editor (release date not yet available).

Tell us about your current release...

Knightfall is the story of a half-breed angel believed to be the harbinger of Armageddon, and the immortal knight assigned to kill her.

Life is relatively normal for bush pilot Kerra Cain. That is, until a fallen angel reveals himself, with plans to use her to destroy the Seven Seals. To escape, she must place her trust in the arms of Gareth, a dangerously sexy but enigmatic man who has haunted her dreams for years. Thrown into a desperate war for survival, Kerra must embrace a heritage long denied her in Knightfall, the first in the Guardians of the Seven Seals series.
